I’ve ran a blog devoted to the rollerblading industry for some time now, this blog was named ‘Get Loose Media’ (www.getloosemedia.com). The site featured up-to-date news, a photo gallery, a message forums and even a downloads section that was populated with movies, music albums, skate edits/videos. This site never generated any revenue and was only maintained by myself for recreational purposes. Now considering my passion for rollerblading and my desire to make money on something I enjoy doing, I’ve decided to come up with someway to market this blog, and in return make some money.
The first step was to come up with a new name, something that was catchy, unique and easy to market. After thinking about it for a few weeks I came up with ‘Buffaroll’ which kind of speaks for it self. The sites content will remain the same, and its purpose will be to update, network and hype the WNY rolling scene. I plan on landing some affiliate deals with some boot companies and other part manufacturing companies in return making a percentage of sales that were directed from my site (www.buffaroll.com). So the more hits I get and the more impressions my ads make on users, the more money I can make.
Once I get things rolling, I plan on getting some print design done, some T-shirts and other ways to advertise the site. Maybe one day, I can take this online business to the next level and open a local shop, possibly even a skate park. We’ll have to wait and see how things unfold.
